The Elachee Nature Science Center

The Elachee Nature Science Center is a beautiful environmental education center set in a 1,440-acre nature preserve in Gainesville, Georgia. Visitors can learn about local animals and hike along a nature trail. The center offers a variety of programs and classes, as well as a nature store.

The Elachee Nature Science Center was founded in 1978 and is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. A large donation of land was made in 1978 by the Johnson Corporation. The park commission set aside 1,400 acres of the land to be a nature preserve. In 1990, the center built a museum and classroom complex. Tipton Construction built the E-House, main classrooms, and an outdoor playground.

The Elachee Nature Science Center is Georgia’s premier environmental education center. Currently serving more than 35,000 students in 35 school systems and 30,000 visitors a year, the center focuses on developing a healthy ecological consciousness. Additionally, it offers programs for teachers, special public events, birthday parties, and facility rentals.
